Salutations to all.

I’d like to take this opportunity to give thanks and express my deepest gratitude to Stéphane Chaudesaigues, who, as the master of ceremonies, provided us with a seminar of the highest caliber.

Where do I start? Maybe with Cécile and Stéphane’s warm welcome as I arrived in Avignon, a city that I had never visited before. They immediately introduced me to the rest of the tattoo artists, who, just like me, had come to learn from the exceptionally talented Nikko Hurtado.

Nikko’s first seminar started around 2:00 pm the first day, and Cécile stepped in to translate everything perfectly, down to the last technical term. Getting the information across just right is of the utmost importance to us, tattoo artists, and especially important to me, since my rusty English dates back to middle school.

Nikko went over a variety of important themes like drawing, coloring, transfers, etc. He encouraged us to ask questions; we could see that he was dedicated to give us the best information he could possibly provide. And as far s I’m concerned, he hit his goal.

On the second day, Nikko started working on a tattoo: the portrait of a woman, done all in color. The term ‘art of tattooing’ really started to make sense during that session: Nikko dipped into several ink caps until he got the desired color and the magic began. I’m still in awe of how the man masters his craft. A few hours later, the portrait was completed, and it was an amazing piece.

I got to know tattoo artists I have never met before, and really enjoyed the sharing atmosphere of this event. I really look forward to future meetings and seminars featuring Bob Tyrell and Shane O’Neill.

This gathering could not have happen without Stéphane and Cécile, and Randy Beaugeois, and I would like to thank them once again for all their efforts.

Let’s hope that this seminar will be the first of many more to come in the future.

Yours truly,

Kalil
